BIOCynthia A. Tananis is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education in the Department of Administrative and Policy Studies and teaches in the School Leadership Program. She is the founder/director of the Collaborative for Evaluation and Assessment Capacity (CEAC), a School of Education initiative to bring together various faculty, community organizations, and consultants to work together to build evaluation capacity in education. Current funded evaluation projects include the Math Science Partnership of SW PA, the Superintendent's Forum of Western Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Governor's School for International Studies, and a number of other institutional, state, regional, and local initiatives.
Dr. Tananis has had a 30 year career in educational evaluation, program development, and administration and has worked with many K-12 schools across the eastern US to conduct educational evaluations and build evaluation capacity. Her expertise focuses on using participative evaluation designs with involved stakeholders, helping people make sense of and benefit from the evaluation process through collaboration and linking evaluation studies and school reform policy.
